Oggi mi era saltato il ticchio di buttare giu` un'applicazioncina RoR per gestire le scalette dei passati/presenti/futuri numeri della rivista... essendo sotto Windows (che mi serve per tutta la roba di grafica che non gira su Linux) ho aperto il simpatico NetBeans con supporto RoR e ho iniziato a pastrocchiare.

Creo il progetto, scelgo il DB SQLite, creo un paio di modelli, lancio la migration per creare le tabelle nel db.
Primo problema, pare che SQLite non funzioni come backend con l'implementazione JRuby integrata con NetBeans.

Sticazzi. Poco male, ci sono mille altre scelte.

... è che un giorno aggiornano un driver (nvidia) che funzionava perfettamente e non funziona più un cazzo.

In particolare, il driver si ostina a dire che i parametri EDID restituiti dal mio monitor (che sotto win funziona tuttora egregiamente) sono sbagliati. Risultato? X parte a 640x480 e, dopo un pomeriggio di smuficchiamenti, il miglior risultato che sono riuscito ad ottenere è un 1440x900 sbagliato (tutta la parte bassa dello schermo sborda fuori e non è raggiungibile).

Well, I'm really happy with OSX 10.5.2. Even I'm not the one that blamed Apple for the translucent menu bar that everyone dislikes.. well, I like it. I don't care about the TM menu bar tool, because I haven't bought (yet) the nifty Time Capsule, I like the spinner in the Airport menu and, most of all, I really like the updates to the BluetoothSCOAudioDriver.kext that drives my bluetooth headset.

Spotlight also feels faster and faster on every upgrade, and I'm a heavy spotlight user, so this makes me really happy. Thanks Apple engineers!

Back to the topic: why odissey? Because as per my battery hints, I managed to make my MacBook2,1 SHUT DOWN while at 74% of the "Writing files" phase of the combo update... resulting in a completely broken system, as every geek could imagine . Apple updated some libraries, and upon reboot simply nothing worked, and the darwin console was filled with lots of error messages.

Oggi ho lavorato per la prima volta col nuovo Corel Photopaint X4.
Nei primi 5 minuti ho scoperto un bug di poco conto: le TIFF esportate dal programma (e da tutti gli altri della suite X4 presumo) sono bacate e non vengono lette da TUTTI gli altri programmi di grafica.

C'è un fix, di un utente del programma, sotto forma di macro scaricabile da un sito NON UFFICIALE e linkata in un post NON UFFICIALE nel forum UFFICIALE di Corel.
